Join us on March 4th to kick off a series of weekly demonstrations demanding that Enbridge, the Canadian fossil fuel corporation, is not allowed to expand its Line 5 oil pipeline in Wisconsin.
Not only would expanding Line 5 exacerbate the already dire threat of climate change but Indigenous leaders warn that the project would pose a very serious risk of contributing to the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. The same warnings were given before Enbridge began expanding its Line 3 pipeline. Subsequently, workers on the project were arrested and charged with human trafficking in MN last year.
Allowing expansion and investment in new fossil fuel infrastructure would be contrary to all of the warnings and recommendations of the scientific community. Blatantly disregarding the warnings and continuing with such projects risks actualizing a worst-case scenario climate catastrophe.
Please stand with the Indigenous-led resistance to Line 5 by joining us in this action. Beginning on March 4th at 5pm we will meet every Friday until Earth Day at the corner of N Washington Street and E Walnut Street.
See you there. Yaw^ko (thank you).
